A Hot Spring on the way to Leadville

Lead-silver discoveries in 1909 led to the development of Leadville in Washoe County.  This modest town reached its peak production between 1924 and 1925.  Small operations continued until 1941.  The mine is now full of water and unsafe to enter.  The area is well secluded.  Wood is available for camping.  A hot spring located in the valley below provided us a rare opportunity to wash the dirt off (see picture).  Leadville is located high in the mountains in the background.
